3D-Printed Roller Coaster (Theme Park Engineering and Design Club)

(SolidWorks, 3D Printing, Structural Design)

Challenge:

Design and assemble a functional 3D-printed roller coaster model demonstrating real-world ride engineering principles, including lift mechanics, track design, and safety.

Solution:

  • Collaborated with a team to design the lift hill and structure using SolidWorks and 3D printing.

  • Redesigned and reinforced components from previous prototypes to improve stability.

  • Assisted in assembling lift and track systems, ensuring precision and alignment.

  • Contributed to brainstorming for next year’s launch coaster project.

  • Prototyped, modeled, and 3D printed parts for the launch system.

Impact:

Applied mechanical design principles to a creative, themed engineering project while gaining experience in prototyping, structural analysis, and teamwork. Strengthened interest in themed entertainment and ride system design.
